This is Love

imageI don’t know about you, but for years I struggled to believe that God could love me. I walked away from my faith in my early 20’s and spent the next 10 years running from God. You know what I found out? You can’t outrun the perfect, unfailing love of God.

It wasn’t until I had my first child, my only son, that I understood God’s love. As I looked into the sweet face of my child I finally understood what unconditional love looked like. I finally grasped how God could love me, in spite of my sin, in spite of my failure and rebellion.  I am His child. I didn’t choose Him – He chose me.

Do you KNOW God loves you? Following Jesus is about relationship, not religion. Are you running from His love? Stop running! Turn around and embrace His forgiveness. Once you have met Him nothing else will ever fill that place in your heart reserved for His presence.

The War Within

imageEach of us is engaged in an internal war between our flesh and spirit. We are a spiritual being living in a carnal body. The one we FEED the most is the one who wins in our daily battles. I encourage you to read Romans chapter 8 today – the entire chapter, not just our key verse. When we read verses in the context they are written the Spirit of God can shed light on the true message of the verse.

How much of our “suffering” is the result of allowing the flesh to rule in our lives? Romans 8:6 says, “to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

PRAY: Lord, when I am suffering unrest in my spirit give me the wisdom to discern between flesh and spirit. Help me to be led by your Spirit. I choose life over death. I choose victory over defeat. I choose submission over rebellion.

First Things First

imageWhat are the “all these things” mentioned in this verse? They are the basic necessities of life: food, drink and clothing.

God doesn’t promise He will give us everything we want, but He does promise to supply all our needs IF our focus is on Him instead of things.

He doesn’t want us to waste one moment of our time on worry. We are the most valued of His creation. He is a Father like no other.

Faith is the antidote to worry. Overcome worry with The Word. When you find yourself worrying about a situation dig into God’s Word for scripture’s regarding your situation. Meditate on The Word, memorize The Word, speak The Word out loud.

God already knows your need, and … “He is more than able to supply all your need according to His riches in Glory.” (Philippians 4:19 NKJV)
